Kruger Zululand Explorer

 

A 7-day packaged safari to Hazyview area of the Kruger National Park and the Natal wetlands. On this packaged safari, guests stay at the popular Hippo Hollow Lodge or similar, situated near Hazyview on a half board basis. The package includes transportation and all game drives are conducted in open 4X4 safari vehicles inside the Kruger National Park. The guests then move on Hluhluwe (half board basis) for a couple of days, where they will have a true Zululand and St. Lucia experience before returning to Johannesburg.

Please note that the Kruger Park charges a daily Conservation fee for each person entering the park. The cost of this fee is not included in the rates indicated for this safari, currently the rate per person is R280 per day. However, upon making the reservation this can be included in the total safari price and then paid in advance to make it easier when on holiday.

Should you want to explore something in addition to the above while on holiday in the Kruger, there are a number of extras that could be arranged through our office. The following are the more popular add-ons available:

Day 1,

Our professional Driver/Guide will pick you up in Johannesburg in an air-conditioned vehicle and transfer you via the scenic Panorama Route to Kruger Park. En-route we will visit Pilgrim’s Rest, God’s Window and the Graskop Falls.

We will arrive at Hippo Hollow Lodge (or similar) in the afternoon where you will have time to check-in and freshen up before we depart on a game drive in the Kruger National Park.

You will depart on either an afternoon game drive or a sunset game drive (where you will get your first experience on an open 4X4 Safari vehicle.) The late afternoon offers the lower light game viewing with most animals heading down to the watering holes and offers excellent game viewing opportunities. (please note the sunset drive is subject to availability)

Day 2 and 3,

Your Professional Field guide will advise you off your pick-up time for this morning. You will be picked up from your lodge early in the morning on your full day game drive in an Open 4X4 Safari Vehicle.

We will enter Kruger National Park and enjoy a full day game drive on this day. We will stop several times during the day for you to freshen up and to stretch your legs. Your Professional Field Guide will ensure that you see the wildlife Kruger Park is renowned for and give you interesting facts and information on all aspects of the African Bush and Wildlife. (With a bit of luck, you will be able to add the Big Five to your “spotting-list”) We will enjoy breakfast at one of the Kruger Park Camps (packed by the lodge). We will also visit the Skukuza Main Camp of the Kruger Park.

We will return in the afternoon to your Lodge where the rest of the evening will be at leisure. Dinner can be enjoyed at the Lodge.

Day 4,

After breakfast we will depart and head towards Zululand. We will arrive at Zululand Tree Lodge Ubizane (or similar) in the late afternoon and check into our rooms.

The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure and you are welcome to explore the lodge or just relax by participating in the lodge facilities. Dinner will be enjoyed at the lodge.

Day 5,

After a scrumptious breakfast we will depart for Duma Zulu Cultural Village. At Duma Zulu you will experience some traditional dancing, visit their traditional homes and even learn a few Zulu words – This is a very informative and true cultural experience.

After Duma Zulu you will embark on your boat cruise on the St. Lucia Wetlands. The St. Lucia boat cruise offers the opportunity to view Hippos, Nile crocodiles and the hundreds of bird species that St. Lucia is famous for.

After this full day of exploring the major attractions, we will head back to the lodge in the late afternoon,

Day 6,

On this day you will be participating in 2 game drives. The first drive will be in the morning and the second in the afternoon. One of your drives will take place in the Ubizane / Rhino River Reserve whereas the other drive will be in the well-known Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Dinner will once again be enjoyed at the lodge.

Day 7,

We will enjoy breakfast at the lodge, check out and head back to Johannesburg. (Durban drop offs can be arranged at an additional surcharge)

Follow the paved pathways through the forest to the beauty of the Tree Lodges - consisting of twenty-four perfectly designed and luxuriously finished thatched roofed rooms that will afford you the opportunity of viewing the surrounding landscape and frolicking wildlife right from your own private deck in complete seclusion. Pop the kettle on in the morning and step into the fresh air of the Ubizane Reserve - you may even be lucky enough to see a kudu springing by.
